Scratched a lifelong itch at Cape Canaveral. Expected a drive-by of the Kennedy Space Center, but spent most of the day there, being impressed as hell. The Saturn V rocket is one IMPOSSIBLY BIG firecracker! Wowzer! The Space Shuttle Experience, a Disney-style simulator, is missable, but not so the breathtaking IMAX 3D Space Station show. Our timing sucks tho; the next shuttle launch is just a week away. =(
And we were two days late for Talledaga, AND two days early for Darlington, but we can't wait around cuz we've got tickets to Indy and miles yet to go.
Found the Speedway, and the Beach, which you can still drive on, but we were late for those too. Consoled selves with Popeye's fried chicken and biscuits: dinner for 2 for $10. Yummy! Topped off with a $42 motel with pool and our dream day was complete! Who's a turkey??
