Left Flagstaff in a raging blizzard, 50mph cross-winds tossing our little Tupperware box all over the 75mph hwy. Dropped 4000' to Sedona, where wind-driven dust made picture-taking a challenge, but it is truly one of the most beautiful settings imaginable for a little town. A mile down the road, the towering red cliffs dissolved into low rolling desert, curiously labelled "National Forest." An hour later we were warm under the blue Scottsdale sky.
Jack treated us to our first NBA game ever: Shaq was there (as was Carlos Santana!) and Steve Nash set a points record in a hard-fought but futile win over the Warriors, as the Sun's closed out a losing season. Heading home, we sat stalled in a mile-long line of cars, police directing, when some guy pulled alongside asking "Is this the tax lineup?" It dawned on us that it was 'T-day', with half of Phoenix trying vainly to beat the midnight filing deadline at the post office. I don't know how long we might have sat there before we figured it out for ourselves!
