Wednesday we drove 2/3 of the rugged and beautiful Oregon Coast, stopping every 30 feet to take pictures, all of which look more or less alike. For so early in the year, there are already hundreds of towering motorhomes out cruising, but we haven't been held up at all, despite the winding hills. In fact, we've hardly passed anyone ourselves, being passees mostly as we dawdle and swerve and generally rubberneck like damn tourists. Dined on ribs at Billy's Smoothboar in Bandon OR, where they make a mouth-watering blue-cheese dressing that's to die FROM! Then to bed at the Shooting Star Motel, with 74 channels but no CNN, so it was American Idol, some Scrubs reruns and the Fox Soccer Channel! Woohoo! We also heard for ourselves why Fox News Radio is so heavily parodied on The Simpsons - hoo boy they're bad!
Heading south is like driving into spring: everything is greening up and in bloom. Even the moss on the trees seems to glow with new life. No pictures of the redwoods cuz it was raining buckets, but they are an inspiration. We sure seem to have a lot of pics of rocks and water, tho! It's clear here in Ukiah CA as we head inland; aiming for lunch at a little place in Healdsburg where I had the most amazing pumpkin soup at least a dozen years ago. Hope it's still there!
